yesterday afternoon around 12:30. he is said to drive a 2006 gray toyota colamry. white male, white hair, hazel eyes. uh-uh saw his picture hopefully, 5'7", weighing 180 pounds. if you have any information, call police. a missing san jose student. san jose state telling us this morning police have found 22-year-old gabriel laurette smith. he was last seen in henry cal state park in the santa cruz mountains. his family apparently found him in the nearby town of ben lamon. before he disappeared yesterday, he was ticketed for illegal camping at that park. after a temporary shutdown in the wake of child abuse allegations. center point christian preschool has been closed for five days to

retrain teachers. allegations surfaced last week that a former teach er tied up 2-year-old girl with tape when a girl refused to take a nap. the school is investigating that incident. meanwhile, a bay area woman wants to change the way schools report suspected child abuse. the assembly woman joan buchanan introducing two policies, one requiring schools to adopt new policies, reporting responsibilities as well as giving staff adequate training. a second bill would give schools the authority in child abuse cases to immediately remove teachers from the classroom. a san jose police officer who shot and killed a suspect on monday night has been involved in a shooting before. the officer fired on the suspect after police say the suspect tried to run the officer down. that same officer was involved in a shootout last november that ended in a robbery and homicide rampage on tulley road. the suspect in that shooting was

we'll be back to spring-like conditions before you know it. where the heaviest rainfall is coming down, mostly over marin county, headed over toward vallejo, the next 15, 20 minutes. not expecting it to be martinez for another 49 minutes. get ready for that. slick conditions. creating pretty moderate downpours. widespread showers on and off all the way through noon. partial clearing from noon to 5:00. most of that activity at that point will be south of the golden gate bridge. then we turn windy. we'll still be tracking residual showers, but nothing too heavy. not enough to get the roads slick tomorrow morning. still watching for that. great news is that pollen levels have dropped off considerably. as you head throughout the day today, shower activity will drop off. probably have your mind-set on the weekend. first you have to work for it. and mike is here to help you get there. >> focus on the road because of the slick conditions. it's not over yet.

we hit the rush hour. keep that in mind, especially south bay commuters. that's where we'll see the most action this morning. i wanted to say residents, but it's not just those of you who live in the south bay. you work here, too. hit the 60s, upper 50s. not too bad. low 50s to start the day. grab your coat and umbrella. if you live in richmond, you're 15 minute as way from the light to moderate showers coming in your neighborhood. real time doppler radar shows you we're nice and dry for the time being. future cast off the clock at 9:00 am, the bulk starts to arrive from santa rosa to fremont at that point, getting light to moderate rain showers, enough to slow your drive. give yourself plenty of time. the sooner you leave, the better off you'll be. between 9:00 and 1:00, the bulk comes through. should start to lighten up after 1:00, turning spotty, lighter. light activity in the south bay. fair game for a stray shower or two as we wake up and meet back

prepare those little ones. get out the rain boots, umbrellas, everything they'll need to stay nice and dry and comfortable today. it will be comfortable temperaturewise, but the rain will continue. even though we're getting a bit of a break in san jose. let's time out the showers for you. pretty gusty winds are headed our way today. then this is not our only chance for rain. 5:01, first slick conditions. where you need to be careful out there. mike has the latest. >> that's right, christina. the break before this rain today -- yesterday is the issue, because that has given oil and grease a chance to settle on the roadways. wet conditions have caused the oil and grease to rise up off the roadway surface. until a lot of traffic travels through, you'll still have that adding a slick layer between you and the roadway. be careful at the freeway off-ramps especially. traffic and weather map systems are tied together. green highlighted all over here. that's where you have the wet roads. slowing on 238,
